Cybercriminals have been observed posing as respectable companies to recruit software developers when delivering phoney Roblox npm packages—which, in reality, install the Quasar Remote Access Trojan RAT. Checkmarx researchers found many malicious packages imitating the wellknown "noblox.js" library. These packages use strategies to look authentic, such as typosquatting, brandjacking, and starjacking. These packages carry the Quasar RAT, which compromises PCs by collecting private information and Discord tokens and evading Microsoft Defender Antivirus. They were downloaded around 200 times before being taken down. Through its takeover of the Windows Settings app, the virus continues to operate every time the program is launched.
