With its Private Cloud Compute PCC, Apple has announced a stateoftheart cloud intelligence solution for AI processing that protects privacy. PCC integrates with the most recent versions of its software, such as iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, to allow for the cloudbased outsourcing of complicated AI queries while maintaining data privacy. The architecture is supported by code signing and sandboxing techniques, and it includes specially constructed server nodes with Apple hardware, Secure Enclave, and Secure Boot. To protect user privacy, PCC requests are routed through Oblivious HTTP relays, which mask their origin. Apple stresses privacy when connecting with OpenAIs ChatGPT and encourages independent review of PCCs code.
